When we started working with the Acupuncture Clinic of Brookline in February, they were "off the map" - meaning that their business did not come up when we searched "acupuncture, brookline" on Google Maps. For a business that deals locally, this is a crucial step in being visible on the web and in getting new customers. I am happy to report that they are now in 5th or 6th position - surely not the ideal 1, 2 or 3, but a great leap, nonetheless.

There is a lot to be said about piping up and asking the right question(s). I forwarded my post about the True North Granola Company to the owners and guess what? They have a mail order business or, I guess an email order business and I've been happily eating their delicious granola ever since.

I'm glad to say that I've seen one of my favorite businesses - Charlie's Soap - go to free shipping on orders over $28. I can't take credit for this, but it's just another example of setting up the right incentive for your customers.

Since I posted this, I saw an article in Business Week about Zipcar (<a href="http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_36/b4098062937966.htm" rel="nofollow">See Article</a>). I hope that the prediction that Zipcar will go into the green (no pun intended) in 2009 comes true and the concept stays around. Besides being a green solution, Zipcar also gives its users freedom they may not have been able to afford otherwise.
